4G and 4GV
The difference between these two UN approved boxes lies in the inner packaging that can be put in the box.
More precisely, the boxes 4G are suitable only by combining the specific inner packaging with which the boxes have undergone the tests. While the 4GV boxes can be used for the shipment of objects or inner packagings of any type, for all kinds of liquid or solid substances of packing groups I, II, III.
4G boxes must necessarily reflect the packaging used in testing, more precisely:
- same inner packaging
- same arrangement of the content
- same closure of the box
For 4GV boxes it is not necessary to check the inner packagings because these boxes can contain any type of inner packaging, but you must respect:
- the minimum distance between inner packagings and sides, bottom and top of the box, fill with absorbing material (vermiculite)
- the gross weight of the package
- the closing of the box and use cross-reinforced tape
